JB attended EPSCoR Track 2 meeting on Oahu- Jan 13-14.

Jan 6 - 9, 2011: Kaloko
Crew: E. Johnson, J. Walker, R. Most, B. Yannutz, others
Initially postponed due to a large west swell. The sampling included:
• 3 surface grid maps of groundwater plume over the tidal cycle
• YSI depth profiles of physical water quality parameters at 6 stations
• Depth grab samples of water quality (surface, mid, and bottom) at 6 stations
• Fish survey- 14 transects
• Surface water quality samples (25 samples)
• Surface water metabolism (6 samples)

Feb. 4 – 6, 2011: Kaloko
Crew: E. Johnson, C. Kryss, R. Most, B. Yannutz, K. Krosky, J. Garriques, J. Troller
The goals of the sampling were to complete objectives that were postponed due to swells during the January sampling, which were primarily substrate water quality sampling, surface metabolism sampling, and fish surveys. Due to a large swell, sampling on Sunday, Feb. 6th was canceled, and surface metabolism sampling and objectives for sites 20 and 21 were not completed.
• Fish surveys: 15 stations (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 24, 25, 27, 28, 32, 34)
• Substrate water quality: 16 stations (1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 24, 25, 27, 28, 31, 32, 34)
• Temperature Logger download: 10 stations (1, 2, 7, 14, 15, 16, 24, 27, 28, 32)

Feb 12, 2011: Kaloko
Crew: E. Johnson, B. Yannutz
Objectives: Finish quarterly sampling goals, which were surface water sampling (nutrients and metabolism, EJ lead), and B. Yannutz senior thesis project fish transects and water quality sampling at 11 stations.

Feb 17-18, 2011: TCBES symposium at UH Hilo
EPSCoR/ENDER Presenters: E. Johnson and J. Walker

Mid-Feb, 2011: R. Most herbivore exclusion cage installation DAR and NPS permitting initiated.
