Intro to GIS for the Community Advisory Committee-IMUA III

Event:The NSF EPSCoR Hawai'i Community Advisory Committee for IMUA III grant were introduced to the power of Geographic Information Science software through a presentation by Lisa Canale. The CAC were introduced to concepts and considerations when designing a GIS and were given the example of the work accomplished by the 'Imi Pono Spring Returnee forest restoration mapping project. The CAC briefly worked with the software to query the data and symbolize the results. Interest was expressed to engage the Spatial Data Analysis Labs and Keaholoa Scholars to map reforestation work at Ka Mahi'ai 'Ihi o Wailea.
